I love a cozy dinner on a cold night, and this one is not only comforting but it’s also quick and easy! This takes me right back to my parents kitchen table when my mom used to make this on weeknights after dance. I’d get the leftovers, but it was just as delicious as eating it right away. Which is also a plus for leftover lovers like me.
Now, I’m not talking about that canned sloppy joe mix. I’m talking about good old, deeply-rich, flavorful sloppy joes! They’re packed with spice and made with everything you probably already have in your kitchen! I paired this with my favorite two easy side dishes, mashed potatoes and green beans. These are probably 2 of my first dishes I ever learned from my parents and I’ve been making them the same way since then. Mashed potatoes and green bean recipes are linked here!
What is a sloppy joe? Maybe it’s just a southern thing or maybe everyone knows about it but if not, sloppy joes are made with a really thick chili type mixture served on a (toasted) hamburger bun. It hot, messy & delicious; hence the name “sloppy” joe! If you’ve never tried one or maybe you didn’t like the ones you ate growing up, trust me you must try this version!
