Surprise!! I thought it would be fun to share a quick and easy game day app that you can make for the big game this weekend! This recipe couldn’t be easier and it literally tastes JUST like a jalapeño popper minus all the stuffing and grilling!
All the things you love about a jalapeño popper but in dip form!! Crunchy bacon, melty cheese and spicy jalapenos. It is so yummy, I know you guys are going to love it! As always I have ingredient swaps, and feel free to DM me on Instagram @brookslately or leave a comment below if you ever have a question or comment!
Hope you have a fabulous, tasty and safe weekend! See you on Saturday for our Romantic Valentines Dinner! 💕

Serves 8-10 people
Tools:
Medium skillet
Ingredients:
6 slices of bacon
1/2 cup jarred pickled jalapeños, drained and chopped
1/4 cup yellow onion
16 ounces cream cheese
4 ounces sour cream
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 tablespoon salt
1 tsp pepper
1 cup crispy fried jalapeños
Tortilla chips, Fritos or Ritz Crackers
Garnish: (optional)
1 tbsp chopped parsley
6-8 jalapeño slices
2 tbsp cheddar cheese
1 tbsp crispy bacon
Directions:
Turn your oven on broil (mine was set to 500 degrees).
Grab your medium skillet and turn the heat to medium/low. Cut your 6 slices bacon into 1 inch pieces. Place them in the pan and crisp up your bacon about 5-8 minutes. Remove about 1-2 tablespoons of cooked bacon for garnish. Keep the rest in the pan.
While your bacon is cooking. Chop your 1/2 cup jarred jalapeños and 1/4 cup yellow onion into small dices. Add these to your pan with your bacon and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until onions are translucent.
Turn your heat to low and slowly stir in your 16 ounces cream cheese. I like to use a wooden spoon and slowly stir the large block so it melts nice and evenly. Once your cream cheese is melted add in your 4 ounces of sour cream and 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese. Season with 1/4 tablespoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper.
Top with 1 cup of crispy fried jalapeños. Place under the broiler for about 1-2 minutes until they get nice and toasty! I like to garnish mine with some extra cheddar cheese (the cold un-melted cheese was nice and refreshing), a few more jalapeño slices, reserved bacon and a little parsley for color!
Serve with tortilla chips, fritos or ritz crackers!
ingredient swaps
bacon
Turkey bacon- this would give you the same effect while making it a little lighter
pickled jalapeños
Fresh jalapeños- If I were using fresh (my preference but my store was out) I would roast them whole in your dry pan until charred all over. Then remove the skin and chop. This way would give you an even smokier flavor and mimic the real deal!
yellow onion
Omit- leave onion out if you don’t like them.
cream cheese
Greek yogurt- I’m assuming if you’re making this that you like cream cheese but if not, I would use Greek yogurt and just omit the sour cream since that tends to be a little sour already.
sour cream
Lemon or Lime juice- this dish needs that hit of tang so if you’re not a fan of sour cream just add the juice from 1/2 a lemon or lime and it should do the trick.
cheddar cheese
Omit- this is cheesy enough, but I liked the cheddar cheese for color and a bit more salty flavor.
tortilla chips, fritos or ritz crackers
Use whatever dipping device you would like! Fresh veggies would also be really yummy with this!
crispy fried jalapeños
Omit- I used these to add a crunch to the dip, plus add a little more jalapeño punch.
If you can’t find these just leave them out or grab some jalapeño chips and crush them up for the topping.
Hope you all enjoy!! Who are we rooting for?! When the Cowboys aren’t playing I’m not really paying much attention. I’m not too sure who is playing but don’t worry I’ll be snacking! 😉
